Acton Walkways promotes the many rich layers of Acton, a suburb situated in the heart of Canberra, the Australian Capital.  Acton has a long and rich history dating back to the early traditional custodians of the Canberra region, whose cultures are among the oldest continuing cultures in human history. Following the arrival of Commonwealth surveyors in 1909, Acton Settlement was to become Canberra’s first 'suburb', and remained the administrative and social centre for the next forty years.
