Moods of excitement and contrast

Critical to the unique nature of this development is the landscape, which acts as an urban glue to bring together different architectural styles, human activities, land uses and permanent and temporary artworks.

The landscape design effectively merges the three developments into a seamless campus-like sequence of spaces that emphasizes heritage, existing trees and then sophisticated arts program. The Green Spine continues its north-south trajectory into the East building foyer as the primary organising axis on the site and is finished with high quality stone paving.

To the south, a sunken garden space provides access to ground floor units whilst taking full advantage of the amenity offered by existing trees. The upgraded Marcus Clarke streetscape is extended to accommodate the building frontage.

The ApARTments Level 4 podium garden, ‘Park in the Sky’ is a 21st Century landscape utilising modern technologies and contemporary custom designed elements unique to this development. Inspired by New York’s High Line and designed by Roger Jasprizza and Bob Earle from Oculus, the podium garden will feature up to 40 species of exotic and native plants from hydrangea to Mexican orange blossom.

The garden provides residents with a very lush green space – with barbeque areas, quirky seating, and breakout spaces. The entire arrangement is framed by low water-use planting near the residential balconies. The spectacular views over the Lake and towards Civic remain uninterrupted by the design.
