At NewActon, our intent is to reveal, honour, and support the work of Australian artists and designer/makers as part of the creation of a unique part of the city.

NewActon And Environment

At NewActon, our commitment to environmental sustainability extends from simple measures such as recycling bins to high performance glass. Our green policies and general practices for the precinct include bike racks available for visitors, staff and residents, dual bins for recycling and waste located throughout the precinct, and the planting of more than 300 trees – just to name a few.

Home Grown - Community Vegie Garden

Community gardens and beds will be situated throughout the precinct not only to allow people to grow and nurture vegetables, fruit and herbs for residents, precinct employees and visitors, to promote a more healthy and communal lifestyle at NewActon.

Love of Music

NewActon supports musical talent and has hosted events such Music Art Food and Taste the Music, to showcase local talent (including the ANU School of Music), as well as national and international. NewActon is also a proud sponsor of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

Acton Walkways

Acton Walkways promotes the many rich layers of Acton, a suburb situated in the heart of Canberra. The Acton Walkways tours allow you to walk through NewActon precinct, take the water line along Lake Burley Griffin, or meander through the many inland pathways linking the city to the lake. You’ll also visit over 90 sculptures, 30 heritage sites, national icons, art, music and film venues, and stop by one of the many cafes and restaurants.

Our Friends

As well as promoting local and national artists, NewActon is supported by, and provides support to, a bevy of local businesses and cultural institutions – NewActon might be a little community unto itself, but we’re ‘in good’ with our neighbours!
